Thimphu has some very humid months, and dry months in the opposite season. The least humid month is December (23.7% relative humidity), and the most humid month is July (73.9%).
Wind in Thimphu is usually calm. The windiest month is June, followed by May and July. June’s average wind speed of around 8.5 knots (9.8 MPH or 15.8 KPH) is considered “a gentle breeze.” Maximum sustained winds (the highest speed for the day lasting more than a few moments) are at their highest in late January and early February where average top sustained speeds reach 17.1 knots, which is considered a fresh breeze.

Spring (March through May)
Humidity and temperatures combine to make this season feel very cold. Highs range from 51.1°F (10.6°C) and 37.2°F (2.9°C) with warmer temperatures in the later months. Rain is rare with 2 to 4 days of significant precipitation per month. Spring is the busiest for tourism, which makes it a good time for those looking for things to do.
Summer (June through August)
The middle-year months have cold weather with high temperatures that are still jacket weather. These months see the most precipitation with 8 to 15 days of precipitation per month. June – August is the second busiest season for tourism in Thimphu, so lodging and other accommodations may cost slightly more.
Fall (September through November)
Fall daily highs range from 53°F (11.7°C) and 42.6°F (5.9°C), which will feel very chilly given the humidity and wind. It rains or snows a normal amount: 0 to 7 days per month. Tourism is fairly slow during these months due to the weather, so hotels may be lower priced.
Winter (December through February)
Weather is far too cold this time of year in Thimphu to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The average high during this season is between 45.8°F (7.7°C) and 33.6°F (0.9°C).
