Average temperatures in Rwanda vary little. Considering humidity, temperatures feel very enjoyable all year with a fair chance of precipitation about half of the year. The area is more temperate than most — in the 78th percentile for pleasant weather — compared to tourist destinations worldwide. Weeks with ideal weather are listed above. If you’re looking for the very warmest time to visit Rwanda, the hottest months are August, July, and then June. See average monthly temperatures below. The warmest time of year is generally early to mid August where highs are regularly around 84.1°F (28.9°C) with temperatures rarely dropping below 64.8°F (18.2°C) at night.

If dry weather is what you’re after, the months with the lowest chance of significant precipitation in Rwanda are July, June, and then August. Note that we define “significant precipitation” as .1 inches or more in this section. The lowest chance of rain or snow occurs around early to mid July. Humidity and Wind
Rwanda has some humid months, and slightly dry months in the opposite season. The least humid month is July (39.2% relative humidity), and the most humid month is November (65.4%).
Wind in Rwanda is usually extremely calm. The windiest month is July, followed by August and September. July’s average wind speed of around 4.2 knots (4.9 MPH or 7.9 KPH) is considered “a light breeze.” Maximum sustained winds (the highest speed for the day lasting more than a few moments) are at their highest in early August where average top sustained speeds reach 9.7 knots, which is considered a gentle breeze.

Fall (March through May)
Humidity and temperatures combine to make this season feel warm. Highs range from 81.1°F (27.3°C) and 74.1°F (23.4°C) with warmer temperatures in the later months. Rain is somewhat common with 6 to 10 days of significant precipitation per month. Fall is the busiest for tourism, which makes it a good time for those looking for things to do.
Winter (June through August)
The middle-year months have very comfortable weather with high temperatures that are comfortable. These months see the least precipitation with 1 to 3 days of precipitation per month. June – August is the second busiest season for tourism in Rwanda, so lodging and other accommodations may cost slightly more.
Spring (September through November)
Spring daily highs range from 81.2°F (27.3°C) and 73°F (22.8°C), which will feel very nice given the humidity and wind. It rains or snows a significant amount: 5 to 9 days per month. Tourism is the slowest during these months due to the weather, so hotels may be affordably priced.
Summer (December through February)
Weather is somewhat cool this time of year in Rwanda to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The average high during this season is between 76.2°F (24.6°C) and 71.2°F (21.8°C). On average, it rains or snows a fair amount: 6 to 8 times per month. These times of year are fairly slow with tourists.
