Average temperatures in Northeast Thailand vary little. Considering humidity, temperatures feel hot for most of the year with a fair chance of precipitation about half of the year. The area is less temperate than some — in the 19th percentile for pleasant weather — compared to tourist destinations worldwide. Weeks with ideal weather are listed above. Precipitation (Rain or Snow)

Humidity and Wind

Northeast Thailand has some very humid months, with other comfortably humid months. The least humid month is March (56.8% relative humidity), and the most humid month is September (79.4%).

Wind in Northeast Thailand is usually extremely calm. The windiest month is November, followed by December and January. November’s average wind speed of around 2.6 knots (3 MPH or 4.8 KPH) is considered “light air.” Maximum sustained winds (the highest speed for the day lasting more than a few moments) are at their highest in late October to early November where average top sustained speeds reach 6.2 knots, which is considered a light breeze.

Spring (March through May)

Humidity and temperatures combine to make this season feel very warm. Highs range from 99.5°F (37.5°C) and 94.7°F (34.8°C) with similar temperatures in the later months. Rain is somewhat common with 3 to 10 days of significant precipitation per month. Spring is the slowest for tourism, which makes it a good time for those looking for deals.

Summer (June through August)

The middle-year months have very comfortable weather with high temperatures that are quite warm. These months see the most precipitation with 11 to 14 days of precipitation per month. June – August is the second busiest season for tourism in Northeast Thailand, so lodging and other accommodations may cost slightly more.

Fall (September through November)

Fall daily highs range from 91.3°F (32.9°C) and 88.2°F (31.2°C), which will feel very nice given the humidity and wind. It rains or snows a significant amount: 1 to 14 days per month. Tourism is fairly slow during these months due to the weather, so hotels may be lower priced.

Winter (December through February)

Weather is perfect this time of year in Northeast Thailand to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The average high during this season is between 95.6°F (35.3°C) and 85°F (29.4°C). On average, it rains or snows a very small amount: 0 to 1 times per month. These times of year are the busiest with tourists.
