Average temperatures in Kathmandu vary greatly. Considering humidity, temperatures feel very nice much of the year, but hot in the summer and cold in the winter with a low chance of precipitation most of the year. Precipitation (Rain or Snow)

If dry weather is what you’re after, the months with the lowest chance of significant precipitation in Kathmandu are November, December, and then January. Note that we define “significant precipitation” as .1 inches or more in this section. The lowest chance of rain or snow occurs around late January. Humidity and Wind

Kathmandu has some very humid months, with other moderately humid months on the other side of the year. The least humid month is April (43.2% relative humidity), and the most humid month is August (75.5%).

Wind in Kathmandu is usually extremely calm. The windiest month is April, followed by May and March. April’s average wind speed of around 3.8 knots (4.4 MPH or 7.1 KPH) is considered “light air.” Maximum sustained winds (the highest speed for the day lasting more than a few moments) are at their highest in late April where average top sustained speeds reach 11.6 knots, which is considered a moderate breeze.

Spring (March through May)

Humidity and temperatures combine to make this season feel warm. Highs range from 86.1°F (30.1°C) and 73.1°F (22.8°C) with warmer temperatures in the later months. Rain is rare with 2 to 4 days of significant precipitation per month. Spring is the busiest for tourism, which makes it a good time for those looking for things to do.

Summer (June through August)

The middle-year months have very comfortable weather with high temperatures that are comfortable. These months see the most precipitation with 9 to 17 days of precipitation per month. June – August is the second busiest season for tourism in Kathmandu, so lodging and other accommodations may cost slightly more.

Fall (September through November)

Fall daily highs range from 84°F (28.9°C) and 70.7°F (21.5°C), which will feel very nice given the humidity and wind. It rains or snows a significant amount: 0 to 9 days per month. Tourism is fairly slow during these months due to the weather, so hotels may be lower priced.

Winter (December through February)

Weather is too cold this time of year in Kathmandu to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The average high during this season is between 73.3°F (22.9°C) and 65.2°F (18.4°C). On average, it rains or snows a very small amount: 0 to 1 times per month. These times of year are the slowest with tourists.
