Chiang Mai has some very humid months, and slightly dry months in the opposite season. The least humid month is March (38.8% relative humidity), and the most humid month is September (71.7%).

Wind in Chiang Mai is usually extremely calm. The windiest month is April, followed by June and May. April’s average wind speed of around 4.1 knots (4.8 MPH or 7.7 KPH) is considered “a light breeze.” Maximum sustained winds (the highest speed for the day lasting more than a few moments) are at their highest in early May where average top sustained speeds reach 13.9 knots, which is considered a moderate breeze.

Spring (March through May)

Humidity and temperatures combine to make this season feel warm. Highs range from 99.8°F (37.7°C) and 93.6°F (34.2°C) with warmer temperatures in the later months. Rain is somewhat common with 2 to 12 days of significant precipitation per month. Spring is the slowest for tourism, which makes it a good time for those looking for deals.

Summer (June through August)

The middle-year months have very comfortable weather with high temperatures that are quite warm. These months see the most precipitation with 9 to 16 days of precipitation per month. June – August is fairly slow season for tourism in Chiang Mai, so lodging and other accommodations may cost slightly less.

Fall (September through November)

Fall daily highs range from 91.1°F (32.8°C) and 86.2°F (30.1°C), which will feel very nice given the humidity and wind. It rains or snows a significant amount: 3 to 14 days per month. Tourism is the second busiest during these months due to the weather, so hotels may be slightly higher priced.

Winter (December through February)

Weather is perfect this time of year in Chiang Mai to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The average high during this season is between 95.6°F (35.3°C) and 84.1°F (28.9°C). On average, it rains or snows a very small amount: 0 to 1 times per month. These times of year are the busiest with tourists.
