    Average temperatures in Virginia vary little and are temperate for much of the year. The area is in the top 33 percent of tourist destinations for pleasant weather.     Precipitation (Rain or Snow)

    If dry weather is what you’re after, the months with the lowest chance of precipitation in Virginia are January, December, and then November. The lowest chance of rain or snow occurs around mid-July. For example, on the week of July 16th there are only 0.1 days of precipitation on average.     Humidity and Wind

    Virginia has below average humidity compared to most tourist destinations. The least humid month is September (22.2% relative humidity), and the most humid month is March (48.8%).

    Wind in Virginia is usually moderate. The windiest month is November, followed by October and December. November’s average wind speed of around 9.1 knots (10.5 MPH or 16.9 KPH) is considered “gentle breeze.” Maximum sustained winds (the highest speed for the day lasting more than a few moments) are at their highest in late November to early December where average top sustained speeds reach 14.7 knots, which is considered a moderate breeze.

    Fall (March through May)

    Humidity and temperatures combine to make this season feel moderate. Highs range from 65.4°F (18.6°C) and 54.1°F (12.3°C) with colder temperatures in the later months. Rain is somewhat common with 3 to 9 days of precipitation per month. Fall is slow/unreported for tourism, which makes it a good time for those looking for deals.

    Winter (June through August)

    The middle-year months have cold weather with high temperatures that are comfortable. These months see moderate precipitation with 1 to 3 days of precipitation per month. June – August is slow/unreported season for tourism in Virginia, so lodging and other accommodations may cost as much as usual.

    Spring (September through November)

    Spring daily highs range from 66.2°F (19°C) and 61.1°F (16.2°C), which will feel very nice given the humidity and wind. It rains or snows a fair amount: 2 to 9 days per month. Tourism is slow/unreported during these months due to the weather, so hotels may be normally priced.

    Summer (December through February)

    Weather is perfect this time of year in Virginia to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The average high during this season is between 67.9°F (19.9°C) and 64.9°F (18.3°C).
